The online registration form for the 54th Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race on April 17th is no longer available on the Bangor Parks & Recreation website.

The registration deadline was originally set for April 8th, but the quota for registrations was met nearly two weeks ahead of that deadline.

With a limit of about 150 boats for the 2021 race, classes filled quickly.

Great news for paddlers this spring! A downsized 54th Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race will be held on Saturday, April 17th with important new rules and regulations. Here are some highlights:

- The race will be limited in scope to 150 total boats, and seven race classes.

- Registration is $35 per person, and the registration deadline is Thursday, April 8.

- Paddlers must pick up their stickers, race bibs, etc. at the Bangor Parks and Recreation office; race packets will NOT be handed out at the race.

- Starting times will be staggered by class, from 8:30am to 10:00am.

- All paddlers must wear masks/face coverings until they are on the stream.

- As the start times of the race are staggered, paddlers can not meet at the starting point in Kenduskeag until 20 minutes before their designated start time (again, by class).

- There will not be a warming tent at the finish line this year.

- Six Mile Falls will be closed to the public during the race (no gathering of spectators). For spectators watching the race at other points along the stream, the use of masks and social distancing are advised.

Flashback 2000!

Sadly, and for the first time in 53 years, there will be no 2020 Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race, but the program directors at WABI-TV5 in Bangor have figured out a nice way to provide many of us with some "rite of spring" entertainment in these crazy, socially distant shut-in times.

WABI will air an archived recording of the 2000 Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race this Saturday, April 18th, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and YES, there will be a live stream at wabi.tv

“While we can’t make up for the loss of this year’s race entirely, we thought our viewers might enjoy a look at one of the past events” said Steve Hiltz, the Creative Services Director at WABI.

UPDATE: To accompany the WABI Flashback 2000 race coverage this Saturday, the 2000 race results have been pulled from the archives and posted on Mike's website as a downloadable/printable PDF file. Check it out here.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The 2020 Race has been cancelled.

Hello Racers!

First of all, we want to thank you all for your dedication and support to our annual Kenduskeag Stream Canoe race.

After much consideration and discussion, the Bangor Parks and Recreation Department has made the decision to cancel the race for this year.

With the ever changing dynamics regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19), we feel this is what is best for the safety of our participants, staff, volunteers and all organizations involved with the race.

We look forward to next year's race.

Stay safe!

4) TAKE OUT IMMEDIATELY AFTER FINISH LINE ON STREAM RIGHT
5) Parking lot will be closed to leave your boats
6) WARMING TENT, CHILI AND CHOWDER, RESULT BOARD AND AWARDS WILL STILL BE HELD AT THE USUAL SPOT AT GOMEZ PARK
7) There will be a bus for ALL racers running from finish line area to Gomez Park starting at 11:00 am
